2010年1月，中國作家協會與《中國日報》合作推介中國作家作品項目正式啟動。中國作家協會為能更好地向海外讀者介紹中國當代優秀作家作品及文學活動，促進中國文學走出去，增進中國文學與世界文學之間的交流與融合，中國作家協會與《中國日報》合作于每周五推出“閱讀版”（Life Reading），一年約50期。此項目由中國作協創研部和《中國日報》特稿部具體承辦。
